The Learning Revolution Project is based across the nine English regions of the United Kingdom.
The principle of our work is that everyone has something to teach and everyone has something to learn. This project represents an opportunity to take a significant step forward in the development of a new national infrastructure which will support a real world of social networking. A new model of self organised adult learning in every English region. We aim to create a network of thousands of individual citizens and develop the infrastructure and support needed to enable them to establish informal Learning Circles across the country.
Our target is to recruit, train and support approx 400 adult learners to become Learning Revolutionaries (volunteers). They will be trained to become community learning facilitators and will go on to engage approximately 4000 adults in learning via community based self organised learning circles by March 2010.
Building on the model the WEA has developed over the last 100 years, this project will showcase core learning values, it will enable peer support and it will create new opportunities for adult learners to learn new skills and develop new interests. It is based on the principles of free open space venues for adult learning, defined and controlled by the learning communities themselves and facilitated by ‘Learning Revolutionaries’ (volunteer facilitators).
