The whole discussion rested on Pelosi’s (and nearly everyone else’s) assumption that learning takes place in classrooms. When I managed to get the microphone, I asked whether the issue wouldn’t go away if the world were the classroom. The technology is the internet and it’s self-organizing. The hardware is the cell phone, and at current adoption rates, everyone is going to have one. The concept received a surprisingly warm reception.
